What is open source?
Open source means that the code of which the software is built is freely available for everyone to use, modify and redistrubute as long as proper credit is give to the original developers. There are several benefits of this, both for the user and programmer.
Users doesn’t have to pay for the use of a specific program and in corporate environments the need to update licensing is eliminated. Developers get help and feedback from volunteer developers and free software is easier to spread to a broader audience.
